Since various concentrations of phosphorus content in any given electroless nickel coating can influence its overall properties, it’s important to measure these concentrations in order to determine the composition of your electroless nickel coating.

In years past, using X-ray fluorescence technology, this was achieved primarily by evaluating the substrate’s signal as opposed to testing the coating itself. But technology has since caught up with necessity, and by using silicon drift detectors, we can now directly measure phosphorous concentrations.
